As the Thunderbolts gear up for their live-action premiere, Marvel Comics is set to expand the team's adventures in the comic book universe. The current Thunderbolts squad is pivotal in the upcoming One World Under Doom crossover event, but fans can also look forward to a fresh lineup in the new series, *New Thunderbolts\**, launching shortly after the film's release.
The much-anticipated *New Thunderbolts\** series is penned by Sam Humphries, known for his work on *Uncanny X-Force*, with art by Ton Lima, famous for *West Coast Avengers*. The stunning cover for the first issue, crafted by Stephen Segovia, has already been unveiled:

While the series aims to ride the wave of the movie's hype, featuring Bucky Barnes as the team leader and the intriguing asterisk in the title, the roster diverges significantly from the film. The new team boasts newcomers like Clea, Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Namor, Hulk, and Carnage, currently embodied by Eddie Brock, formerly known as Venom.
The narrative kicks off with Bucky Barnes and Black Widow tackling a universe-threatening crisis involving doppelgangers of the Illuminati. To combat this, they form a team of formidable, yet unpredictable members. Managing such a diverse group of heavy-hitters presents its own set of challenges.
Sam Humphries shared his enthusiasm in Marvel's press release, stating, "I love every iteration of Thunderbolts. I'm thrilled to continue the franchise's proud tradition of hard-hitting action, powder keg personalities, and explosive surprises into a new era. This is a gang of seven of the biggest badasses and loose cannons from different corners of the Marvel Universe. Assembling a super team is like inviting the right combination of guests to a dinner party. So I imagined a dangerous, disastrous, unhinged Marvel dinner party, and went with that."
Ton Lima added, "I'm having a blast working on this book with Mr. Humphries and the team. Look at this lineup... it's crazy. They're not here to talk; they jump straight to the action! And that's the most fun part to draw. None of them are known for taking it easy on the job, so I can't either."

*New Thunderbolts\** #1 is scheduled for release on June 11, 2025.
