Hashino, when discussing Atlus' future plans, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are no immediate plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, which was originally conceived as a third major JRPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. The goal is for Metaphor: ReFantazio to become a flagship Atlus title.
While a sequel is currently off the table, Atlus is already developing its next project, which won't be Metaphor: ReFantazio 2. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has already achieved significant success, boasting the highest concurrent player count for an Atlus game launch, exceeding 85,961 players. This surpasses even Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
