Marvel Rivals fans have just experienced their first weekend with new playable characters, Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. While the Invisible Woman has been well-received, some players are struggling to take Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, as seriously as other heroes in the game.
Mister Fantastic made his debut with the launch of Season 1 on January 10, bringing his elastic skills to the battlefield as one of Marvel Rivals' first post-launch heroes. Classified as a Duelist, his abilities allow him to take long swings at one or multiple enemies, while also enabling him to expand his body and take on a more tank-like role. Players are still figuring out the best strategies to utilize Mister Fantastic against the rest of the roster, but in the meantime, many can't help but find his antics amusing.

Given his ability to contort his body into bizarre shapes, Mister Fantastic carries a significant amount of meme potential. Comparisons to One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy, particularly due to Mister Fantastic's Elastic Strength ability, have already circulated widely. This has led the modding community to create One Piece-inspired custom skins, despite NetEase's recent crackdown on modding. The humor of turning into a rubber bodybuilder has captured fans' attention, with some, like X/Twitter user @BOOMERANG_117, creatively imagining Mister Fantastic without his new beard.
While slightly unsettling, Mister Fantastic's Reflexive Rubber ability has become a particular target for jokes. This ability not only serves as a useful tool to reflect enemy damage but also looks incredibly comical in motion, as Mister Fantastic grows to the size of a refrigerator. The absurdity of this move has not gone unnoticed by the community, with one Reddit user commenting, "Ngl I think Mr. Fantastic's design encapsulates everything great about this game. He's stupid and silly and cheesy and the game just lets him be that and is better for it."

While it remains to be seen whether Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman will become long-term favorites among Marvel Rivals fans, they have certainly made a strong impression during their debut weekend. As Season 1 progresses, players can look forward to the addition of the remaining Fantastic Four members, The Thing and Human Torch, in the second half of the season. Hopefully, their arrival will be just as memorable.
