Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is set to return to the Esports World Cup in 2025, following its successful participation in the 2024 competition. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in this year's tournament.
With the 2024 Esports World Cup proving a significant success, many publishers are confirming their games' return for 2025. Following Garena's Free Fire, Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has also confirmed its participation.
The Esports World Cup featured two Mobile Legends: Bang Bang events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup and the MLBB Women's Invitational. Teams from around the globe competed in Riyadh. Selangor Red Giants won the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (holders of a 25-game win streak since 2021) to claim the Women's Invitational title.
A Significant, Yet Secondary, Event?
Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear to be returning. However, it's noticeable that few, if any, are showcasing their major championships. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup suggests the Esports World Cup might be considered a secondary event rather than the main competition. This is a double-edged sword: it avoids overshadowing existing leagues but could also be perceived as less prestigious.
Nevertheless, fans will appreciate the return of numerous familiar titles to this high-profile tournament.
