Nintendo has officially announced the pricing for upgrading two additional titles from the original Switch to the upcoming Switch 2 Edition: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The cost, however, may come as a surprise to many fans — especially when compared to previous upgrade pricing models.
Previously, upgrades for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were set at $9.99 each. However, according to reports from NintendoLife, both the Kirby and Super Mario Party Jamboree enhancements carry significantly higher price tags — more than double the earlier rate.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes enhanced visuals and performance, in-game achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" feature available via the Nintendo Switch Online app. If you already own the original title on Switch, these features won’t be unlocked automatically; instead, players can opt to purchase an “upgrade pack” for $10 to gain access to them.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces a brand-new story expansion known as the Star-Crossed World. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Party Jamboree comes with a fresh content suite called Jamboree TV, which leverages the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, the Switch 2 microphone, and the optional USB-C camera. These versions also support up to 1440p resolution in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functionality.
While U.S. pricing details are not yet fully visible on the American Nintendo eShop — potentially due to ongoing uncertainties related to President Trump's proposed tariffs — the UK store currently lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade at £16.99 / €19.99. This is notably higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 fee for either *Breath of the Wild* or *Tears of the Kingdom*. The same price point applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree – Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade, suggesting that the U.S. price will likely settle around $19.99 per title.
This jump in pricing could be linked to the full retail cost of the upgraded titles themselves, which have seen significant increases. Both the Switch 2 Editions of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are priced at $79.99 each — a steep $20 more than their original Switch counterparts, which remain available at $59.99.
U.S. Pricing for Full Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Titles (Non-Upgrade):
- Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World: $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV: $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: $79.99
It’s worth noting that Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can access the *Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* upgrade packs at no extra charge. As of now, no such promotional offer exists for those looking to upgrade *Kirby and the Forgotten Land* or *Super Mario Party Jamboree*.
