With just hours to go before the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, excitement is building as Nintendo prepares to unveil its next-generation console. A recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing, spotted on Famiboards and reported by Nintendo-focused outlets like GoNintendo, has sparked speculation about the potential controller lineup for the Switch 2.
The filing, dated March 31 and listed under the product code "BEE-008," appears to be for a new game controller. Many fans are speculating that this could be the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, although Nintendo has not yet confirmed such plans. The document hints at features like Bluetooth and NFC capability, which are consistent with what one might expect from a Pro Controller.
One particularly noteworthy detail from the filing is the potential inclusion of a headphone jack in the Switch 2 Pro Controller. Unlike the original Switch Pro Controller, which lacked this feature, the addition of a headphone jack would align the Switch 2 with competitors like the DualSense and Xbox Series controllers, enhancing the user experience.
While this is all speculative at this point, past FCC filings have occasionally provided early glimpses into Nintendo's plans. As we await official confirmation, the Switch 2 Direct, set to air tomorrow at 6am PT / 9am ET on Nintendo's channels, promises to give us a "closer look" at the Switch 2. This event follows the console's initial reveal earlier in the year and is expected to provide detailed information, possibly including a release date.
The Switch 2 Direct is scheduled to last an hour, and Nintendo has also planned two Nintendo Treehouse: Live | Nintendo Switch 2 presentations for April 3 and April 4, starting at 7am PT each day, where attendees can expect hands-on gameplay demonstrations.
