Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found within the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide provides a step-by-step strategy to overcome this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a massive tree. Access is initially limited; however, a convenient entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can either climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach the maze's interior.
Mastering the Board Game
Inside, you'll find the Lifer alongside a six-piece board game. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer (white) does. Crucially, placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. You can exit and re-enter the game, saving your progress. While not mandatory for the fight, the board game is key to debuffing the Lifer. Avoid winning before removing buffs, as the Lifer will immediately attack.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer boasts seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (using Stake of Imbalance):
- Growing Loneliness: HP regeneration after 2 seconds of inactivity.
- Desire for Escape: Significantly increased attack and damage over time.
- Impending Stalemate: Attack increase stacking with each hit, resetting after 6 seconds of inactivity.
- Decay of Time: Substantial elemental resistances and increased Max HP.
Permanent Buffs:
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: Reduced Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after significant damage.
To find the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor tool near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (marked with a white glow). Some rooms require defeating Tacet Discords or destroying Friable Rocks.
Place each Stake of Imbalance into the module in front of its corresponding statue to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow upon successful debuffing.
Defeating the Lifer
With all four removable buffs gone, engage the Lifer (either through the board game or by selecting "Fight it out!"). The debuffed Lifer presents a significantly easier challenge. Its attacks are less threatening.
Rewards for defeating the Lifer include Premium and Basic/Standard/Advanced Supply Chests, varying based on the number of victories (up to three). You can re-enable the buffs for a more difficult fight, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
Completing the Lifer challenge unlocks achievements:
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (three victories).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game 10 times.
For board game struggles, focus on blocking the Lifer's moves. It will eventually make a mistake, allowing you to win.
