Palworld’s massive v0.5.0 update introduces cross-platform play, a game-changer for players across all platforms. This update also significantly enhances Pal management with the Global Palbox, offering ten times the storage capacity of the standard Palbox. Guild members gain access, and players can utilize it for personal storage with customizable privacy settings, enabling seamless Pal transfers between worlds.
Beyond Pal management, this update boasts a range of exciting features. Customize your character’s look with the new cosmetic armor system (transmog), capturing memorable moments with the newly added photo mode, and strategically upgrading blueprints via the drafting table. Mac users also benefit from dedicated servers, ensuring a smoother gaming experience.
Pocketpair continues development, promising dedicated servers for PlayStation 5 in a future update. Since its January 2024 early access launch, Palworld has amassed an astounding 32 million players. The studio has unveiled an ambitious 2025 content roadmap, including an “ending scenario” and further content additions to this wildly popular creature-catching survival game. Initially launching on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Xbox and PC Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales and concurrent player records. The game's success, however, presented unforeseen challenges for Pocketpair, as CEO Takuro Mizobe revealed the studio was initially overwhelmed by the massive profits generated. Despite this, Pocketpair swiftly capitalized on Palworld’s success, forging a partnership with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture focused on expanding the IP and launching the game on PS5.
Currently, Palworld faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, alleging patent infringement. Pocketpair has responded, publicly identifying the patents in question and implementing adjustments to Pal summoning mechanics. The studio remains resolute, vowing to defend its position in court.
