Project VK: A Fan-Made Game Rises from the Ashes of Project KV
Following the abrupt cancellation of Project KV, a dedicated community has launched Project VK, a non-profit, fan-made game. This initiative, spearheaded by Studio Vikundi, emerged on September 8th, the same day Project KV was shut down.
Studio Vikundi's statement on Twitter (X) acknowledged Project KV's influence but emphasized their commitment to independent development. They clarified that Project VK is a completely original creation, unrelated to Blue Archive or Project KV, and pledged to uphold ethical development practices, contrasting with the controversies surrounding its predecessor.
The cancellation of Project KV stemmed from significant online criticism regarding its close resemblance to Blue Archive. Accusations of plagiarism focused on its art style, music, and core concept – a city inhabited by female students wielding weapons. Dynamis One, the developer of Project KV, announced the cancellation just a week after releasing its second teaser, apologizing for the resulting controversy.
Project VK represents a community response, born from disappointment with Project KV's handling and a desire to create a similar game free from ethical concerns. The project is entirely fan-driven and non-profit, demonstrating the power of community passion in the face of setback.
