Following a minor leak last week, EA has officially announced the title of its upcoming Star Wars game, along with the team behind its development. Dubbed Star Wars: Zero Company, this new title is being crafted by the newly-established studio, Bit Reactor, with assistance from Lucasfilm Games and Respawn. The game promises to deliver a unique gaming experience as a "single-player turn-based tactics game," blending strategy and the rich universe of Star Wars.
The image above showcases the first and only official artwork released for Zero Company so far. While details are still sparse, fans won't have to wait long for more information. EA has scheduled a first look at the game for April 19 during Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Bit Reactor, founded in 2022, is a strategy game studio composed of industry veterans who have worked on acclaimed titles such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elder Scrolls Online. Although it was known that Bit Reactor was collaborating with Respawn on a Star Wars project, this announcement marks the first time concrete details have been shared about what to expect from Zero Company.
The extent of Respawn's involvement in the project remains somewhat ambiguous. Respawn has faced significant challenges recently, including the cancellation of its own Star Wars FPS project a year ago, coupled with widespread layoffs at EA, and the termination of another multiplayer FPS project just last month.
For those eager to learn more, EA will unveil additional details about Star Wars: Zero Company during a live panel on Saturday, April 19, at 4:30pm local time in Japan. For fans in the U.S., this means setting alarms for 12:30am PT or 3:30am ET to catch the reveal live.
