Dune: Awakening's sandworms: a force of nature, not a player's tool. Unlike the novels, players can't summon sandworms at will using a thumper.

Sandworms are programmed NPCs with independent patrol routes and behaviors. While you can't summon them to attack enemies, actions like moving through the sand or using a thumper might attract their attention – but there's no guarantee.
Riding sandworms, a key element of Freman culture in the books, is absent from the launch version due to restrictions from the Dune film franchise. However, the developers haven't ruled out adding this feature in future updates.
Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
