Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking curiosity and amusement across the internet, even catching the attention of Movie Sonic who's unsure about Shrek's new look.
In a humorous video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," humorously showcasing Movie Sonic's own transformation from his initial, widely criticized live-action design to the much-improved version unveiled months later.

IGN had the privilege of presenting the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, and the feedback was notably mixed, with fans particularly vocal about the character's teeth, physique, small eyes, and unusually human fingers.
Responding to the fan backlash, director Jeff Fowler opted to revise the controversial design, committing to a more authentic portrayal of the beloved character. The subsequent redesign was met with much greater approval.
While the reaction to Shrek's new look hasn't reached the level of controversy seen with Sonic's debut, Sonic's playful response has delighted fans.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one fan commented, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth installment of the Shrek series was initially announced in 2016, but progress was silent for years until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023, along with plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has since pushed back Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, and slotted Despicable 3 spin-off Minions 3 into its former release date.
