Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see 22 games removed from the service's library, including major titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final playable versions of Sony's first-party classics Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This departure is set to occur on May 20, 2025.
PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. The service also boasts a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games accessible to Extra and Premium members.
As reported by Push Square, the removal of these 22 games from the PS Plus Premium library includes two significant first-party PS3 titles. Notably, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available for streaming on PS Plus Premium after their departure. These games were added to the service towards the end of 2024 and are now being removed within less than a year.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 is particularly significant because these titles are no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. This makes the PS Plus Premium streaming service the last remaining platform to experience them, unless one owns both games and a functional PS3. The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac Games, known for their work on Ratchet and Clank, consists of three PS3 titles. Insomniac has since moved on to projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank games.
While it's rare for Sony to remove its first-party titles from PS Plus, it's not unprecedented. The unexpected removal of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West in August 2024 set a precedent, though those games remained available for purchase. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will be completely inaccessible on modern consoles after their removal.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the PS4 title InFamous: Second Son is also slated for removal from PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been inactive for some time. In February, Insomniac's founder and outgoing president Ted Price disclosed efforts to develop Resistance 4, which ultimately did not come to fruition. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been sidelined in Sony's portfolio.
