Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

Saber Interactive has reassured fans that all of its previously announced projects are still actively in development, despite the lack of updates on high-profile titles like the much-anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. The studio's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to affirm that everything Saber has announced is still being worked on, emphasizing the studio's status as one of the world's largest independent developers.

"Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."

The most notable project mentioned by Willits is the KOTOR remake, which has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The project has undergone multiple changes in development teams, seemingly halted and restarted, yet after four years, it remains unseen. In April 2024, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed that the KOTOR project was taken with them during their split from Embracer Group and is still actively being developed.

"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch stated at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."

Willits' recent statement, nearly a year after Karch's comments, reaffirms the ongoing development of the KOTOR remake. However, fans are still awaiting any new visuals or updates beyond the initial announcement video.

In addition to the KOTOR remake, Saber Interactive is working on several other titles, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both slated for release in 2025, though specific dates have yet to be announced. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. The recent announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 adds another exciting title to their lineup.
