Take-Two has revealed the sales of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2

In an impressive display of enduring popularity, Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) has sold an astonishing 5 million copies in the last three months alone, despite being over a decade old. Since its initial release in September 2013, GTA 5 continues to hold its place as one of the best-selling video games of all time. This consistent sales performance underscores the game's lasting appeal and its robust multiplayer component, GTA Online, which remains a key driver of its success. Take-Two Interactive keeps the game fresh with regular updates, including the recent December 2024 release of Agents of Sabotage, which has successfully kept players engaged and returning for more.

Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) has seen a surge in sales, reaching a total of 70 million copies sold, with an increase of 3 million in the last quarter. Released in October 2018, RDR2's continued popularity showcases the staying power of Rockstar Games' titles.

Looking ahead, fans have much to anticipate. Take-Two has officially announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is slated for release in the fall of 2025. The excitement surrounding GTA 6 is palpable, making it one of the most eagerly awaited games in history. In the meantime, Mafia: The Old Country is expected to hit the shelves this summer, and Borderlands 4 is scheduled for a later release in the year. While exact dates for Borderlands 4 have not yet been disclosed, its announcement has already stirred significant interest among fans.

Despite the confirmed release window for GTA 6, there remains a degree of uncertainty due to Rockstar Games' meticulous development approach. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, emphasized that the development process might necessitate additional time, a pattern observed with previous high-profile releases like GTA 5 and RDR2. This careful strategy aims to ensure the highest quality product, though it may lead to potential delays. If you're worried about GTA 6's release, consider taking a break and revisiting the excitement closer to the fall of 2025. Take-Two's most recent financial presentation reaffirmed the autumn launch, keeping hopes high for this monumental release.
