Our *Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition* classes guide highlights the five best classes in the game, explaining why they're worth considering.Drifter
In *Xenoblade Chronicles X*, you're encouraged to move away from the Drifter class once you reach rank 10, yet it remains one of the most versatile and useful classes throughout the game. For fans of the original *Xenoblade Chronicles*, Drifter is akin to Shulk, but with a more limited skill set. This class offers a range of debuff and offensive arts, including abilities that stagger and topple enemies, as well as one that regenerates health, reducing your reliance on potentially slow-healing party members.
Drifter utilizes assault rifles for robust ranged damage and knives for potent melee attacks, making it adaptable to various combat scenarios. Moreover, Drifter boasts the highest number of skill slots of any class, allowing for extensive customization. Even if you experiment with other classes, returning to Drifter to tailor it to your playstyle is highly beneficial.
Full Metal Jaguar
Full Metal Jaguar, Elma's class, is a high-risk, high-reward choice. Its mechanics boost your critical hit rate when your HP dips below 50 percent, and one skill ensures you maintain this low HP by reducing it with each attack. The Ghost Factory skill enhances your allies' evasion, while Electric Surge allows you to deal ether damage, a rare ability among melee classes. Even the class' basic skill, Shadowstrike, packs a punch.
Duelist
Duelist excels as a self-sufficient close-range combatant, adept at handling ranged attacks as well. They wield a longsword and an assault rifle, similar to an enhanced version of the Drifter's arsenal, and access a broad spectrum of skills. The Last Stand skill uses your TP to boost the party's TP, ensuring heavy attacks are ready when needed.
Soul of the Samurai infuses basic attacks with area-of-effect capabilities, and True Stream Edge restores TP when your morale level exceeds one. However, Blossom Dance stands out as one of the game's best skills, staggering and toppling enemies while ignoring their resistances, making it invaluable against most foes.
Mastermind
If you're more interested in controlling enemy behavior than dealing direct damage, Mastermind is an excellent choice. Though its arts may not match the Duelist's in power, they simplify long battles against challenging enemies. Mastermind can remove enemy buffs and, at level seven, learns a skill that reduces enemy debuff resistance upon landing an attack. Additionally, it boosts TP and has a capstone art that inflicts the virus effect. Playing Mastermind requires more strategic attention, but the payoff is well worth it.
Galactic Knight
While Galactic Knight is often associated with Skell users, it offers much more. Beyond Skell-specific bonuses, this class can remove debuffs, heal allies, and deal significant specialized damage. Galactic Knights can also reduce their own cooldowns by executing melee combos. For Skell users, their abilities restore appendage HP and directly increase combat power, with no additional conditions required.
