The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions to wield in Phasmophobia due to its favorable risk-reward ratio. Despite changes from game updates, it remains a valuable asset for ghost hunters.

The primary function of the Voodoo Doll is to compel the ghost to exhibit evidence-related behaviors by inserting pins into it. This method is particularly useful for dealing with ghosts that are hard to provoke, encouraging them to produce evidence like EMF5 readings or Ultraviolet prints.

There are 10 pins available to insert into the doll, each of which can trigger a ghost's action. However, be cautious; each pin inserted reduces your sanity by 5%. Using all 10 pins could drain up to 50% of your sanity, significantly increasing the risk of ghost hunts.

The most critical pin is the one in the doll's heart. Inserting pins is random, and if you hit the heart pin, it will reduce your sanity by an additional 10% and immediately initiate a Cursed Hunt. During a Cursed Hunt, the ghost will appear near your location and pursue you for an extended period—20 seconds longer than typical hunts.

Despite these risks, the Voodoo Doll can be an invaluable tool for gathering evidence, provided you're prepared and strategic in its use.

What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, also referred to as "Cursed Objects," are special items in Phasmophobia that can randomly appear on any map. Their availability might vary based on difficulty settings or if you're engaging in Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment, which is used to locate ghosts and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects provide shortcuts to manipulate ghost behavior but come with significant risks to your character. The decision to use these items is entirely up to you and your team, and there's no penalty for choosing not to use them. Typically, only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract, though this can be altered in Custom settings.

The game features seven distinct Cursed Objects:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle

This guide has covered how to use the Voodoo Doll effectively in Phasmophobia. For more tips, tricks, and the latest news on the game, including how to unlock all achievements and trophies, be sure to visit The Escapist.
