"War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius to Shut Down in May"

It's a somber day for fans of the Final Fantasy series as one of its mobile titles, War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, is set to close its doors. The game, which served as a spin-off to the main Brave Exvius entry, will cease operations on May 29th of this year. If you're keen to experience the game one last time, you'll need to dive in before that date.

War of the Visions joins a growing list of Square Enix mobile games that have been discontinued over recent years. Interestingly, this closure comes on the heels of the original Brave Exvius announcing its own shutdown in September 2024. This series of closures might indicate a broader challenge for Square Enix in the mobile gaming space.

The performance of War of the Visions aside, Square Enix seems to be facing a crisis of confidence with their mobile offerings. This isn't entirely surprising, given their extensive lineup of mobile games, including ports of classic retro titles. With the highly anticipated arrival of Final Fantasy XIV on mobile, fans have numerous options to engage with the franchise on their smartphones.

The market might be feeling the strain of too many spin-offs, leading to a possible overconfidence from Square Enix that has unfortunately resulted in the loss of titles that some fans have enjoyed. However, don't despair just yet; we still have a (albeit shrinking) selection of the best Final Fantasy games on mobile to keep your RPG cravings satisfied.
