The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated players worldwide, a first look at The Witcher 4 has arrived, introducing Ciri as the new protagonist.
As Geralt's adopted daughter, Ciri steps into the spotlight as the Witcher's trilogy concludes. The teaser showcases Ciri intervening in a village's disturbing ritualistic sacrifice, revealing a far more complex situation than initially apparent.
While an official release date remains elusive, considering the development timelines of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year wait for Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.
Platform specifics are yet to be announced; however, given the projected timeframe, a current-generation console exclusive release is likely. We anticipate simultaneous launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A Switch port, unlike Witcher 3, appears unlikely at this stage, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.
Although gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements like potions, combat phrases, and magical Signs. A new addition might be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting role. The teaser includes Geralt's voice, fueling speculation of a mentor-like capacity.
