Avengers: Doomsday directors the Russo Brothers have sent a cryptic message to fans after the fourth teaser trailer dropped, insisting these videos aren’t teasers or trailers at all.
Instead, the Russos explained in an Instagram post, these clips — for lack of a better term — are “stories” and “clues.”
“Pay attention,” they urged.
Here’s their full statement:
“What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks… are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues… Pay attention.”
The Avengers: Doomsday hype train began with the Steve Rogers / Captain America teaser, featuring Chris Evans’ character cradling a baby — likely his child with Peggy Carter.
That was followed by the Thor trailer, showing Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian tending to his adopted daughter, Love. The teaser depicts Thor — now with the short-haired look from the beloved and wildly successful Thor: Ragnarok — praying to his father, Odin (portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in the MCU), seeking the “strength of the All-Fathers” to “fight once more… defeat one more enemy and return home to her.”
The X-Men trailer reveals Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops seemingly making a final stand against Sentinels inside the X-Mansion.
The Wakandans teaser echoes a similar tone, with Shuri / Black Panther setting an ominous mood, and its connection to The Fantastic Four hints at an impending, large-scale battle that has our heroes deeply unsettled.
So what exactly do the Russo Brothers’ cryptic words mean? That’s the question on every fan’s mind — and right now, there are no clear answers. Are these clips even from Avengers: Doomsday? Could they be promotional material we’ll never see in theaters? Perhaps the key lies in the end of each video, where the Avengers emblem appears on a mysterious green “Doomsday clock” etched with ancient runes.
It seems the teaser rollouts have paused, as Marvel has now launched a live countdown timer for Avengers: Doomsday — already drawing thousands of viewers.
Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on December 18, 2026.
