Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces bosses, gradually teaching players to master its mechanics. While not overly long, the game presents a satisfying number of challenging encounters.
Initially, players might need some guidance, but Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, truly tests your combat skills, abilities, and overall game mastery. This fight won't be easy for newcomers.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
After defeating Guilen, The Fire Eater, you'll progress through the Zone of Lava to face Gyalva. The key to victory is strategic positioning: fight from one of the bridge's ends.
This battle significantly limits movement. The bridge platforms constantly shift due to Gyalva's attacks. The strategy is to repeatedly jump to Gyalva, using wind magic to maximize damage output in short bursts.
The Ys franchise is a Nihon Falcom gem, and conquering bosses like Gyalva provides a truly rewarding experience.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
While a remake of Ys 3, Gyalva is a new addition to the story. This boss possesses several devastating attacks. While the fight's mechanics are relatively straightforward, Gyalva can inflict significant damage quickly. The boss will fly across the bridge, often launching sections into the air with fiery attacks.
Consider upgrading Adol before attempting this fight, aiming for at least level 21. This shouldn't be too difficult if you've been consistently defeating minor enemies.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva employs two spinning attacks. The first involves passing over a bridge section, causing affected platforms to spin wildly. The second sees Gyalva traversing the entire bridge, flipping all platforms. Both attacks can severely damage under-leveled players.
To avoid the first, quickly move to either side of the affected area. For the second, the only safe spot is on either bridge ledge. Staying near one side allows for a safe retreat to the edge.
Avoid the very end of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, maneuver to attack Gyalva before retreating to a nearby ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs onto the bridge, launching platforms into the air. This attack causes damage but also presents an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames as fireballs arc between them. These bursts cause damage. It's difficult to predict their timing, but once a burst ends, the area is safe to traverse.
