Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom to Feature Both Zelda and Link as Playable Characters

The ESRB rating board listing for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom confirms players will take on the roles of both iconic hero Link and beloved princess Zelda in her first solo adventure. The game has earned an E 10+ rating and includes no interactive elements like in-game purchases.
According to the listing, "In this adventure game, players step into the shoes of Zelda as she works to close rifts across Hyrule and save Link. As Link, players wield a sword and arrows to defeat foes; Zelda uses a magical wand to summon creatures such as wind-up knights, pig soldiers, and slimes for combat. Some enemies can be set ablaze, while others dissolve into mist upon defeat."
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom represents a major shift for the franchise, marking Princess Zelda’s debut as the protagonist in Nintendo's long-running series. Since its reveal, the game has quickly risen to become the most wish-listed title announced during this summer's gaming showcases.
Still, the extent and specific portions of the game where Link is playable remain uncertain. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches on September 26, 2024.
Pre-Orders Open for Zelda Hyrule Edition Switch Lite
To coincide with the game's release, Nintendo has introduced the Zelda-themed Hyrule Edition Switch Lite, now available for pre-order. This special edition console honors the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. While the system does not include the game, it comes bundled with a 12-month individual subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, priced at $49.99.
The Hyrule Edition Switch Lite features a golden finish, the royal family's crest on the back, and a small Triforce emblem on the front.
