Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other at a table. A standard 52-card deck is used, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. The goal of each player is to accurately estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team will win in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw papers of the same type. The player who throws the highest-ranking paper wins the trick. Tarneeb papers are superior to all other papers; the player throwing the highest-ranking Tarneeb paper wins unless a stronger Tarneeb paper is played.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are tallied. A team only scores if they meet or exceed their bid for the number of Allmat. If successful, they add the number of Allmat won to their score; the opposing team gets nothing. If unsuccessful, the points they bid are subtracted from their score, and the number of Allmat won by the opposing team is added to their score.
If a team wins 13 tricks without bidding for 13, they receive 16 points. If they bid for and win 13 tricks, they receive 26 points. If a team bids for 13 tricks and fails to win them, they lose 16 points.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points; that team is declared the winner.
