The Hitchhiker's Guide to Monsters

Rifts are rarely good news in the gaming world, but Avid Games has embraced this concept wholeheartedly in Eerie Worlds, the highly anticipated sequel to Cards, the Universe and Everything. This tactical CCG retains the fun and educational elements of its predecessor, but shifts the focus to the terrifying world of monsters.

Monsters, that is, emerging from rifts. Eerie Worlds boasts a visually diverse roster of monsters, each inspired by real-world horrors from mythology and folklore.

The game’s impressive scope includes creatures from every corner of the globe. Encounter Japanese Yokai like Jikininki and Kuchisake, and Slavic monsters such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav. Bigfoot, Mothman, the Nandi Bear, El Chupacabra, and countless others, both large and small, populate this terrifying menagerie. Each card features a detailed and well-researched description, making the game both entertaining and informative.

Eerie Worlds features four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes, providing significant strategic depth. Monsters may share some characteristics but differ in others, creating complex tactical possibilities.

Your monster collection, known as your Grimoire, can be upgraded by merging duplicate cards. While the game starts with 160 basic cards, merging unlocks many more, with additional cards planned for the near future.

Avid Games has announced the addition of two more Hordes in the coming months, ensuring Eerie Worlds offers lasting replayability.

Gameplay involves constructing a deck of nine monster cards and one world card, engaging in nine 30-second turns filled with high-stakes decisions regarding mana usage, synergy exploitation, and more.

Prepare for a challenging but rewarding experience. Eerie Worlds is available now for free on the Google Play Store and the App Store – click here to download.
