Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be DRM-free

Medieval action-RPG sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), will launch without any Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, according to developer Warhorse Studios. This directly contradicts earlier rumors circulating among gamers.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Won't Have Denuvo DRM

Warhorse PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, addressed these rumors during a recent Twitch stream, clarifying that KCD2 will not utilize Denuvo or any other DRM system. He attributed the confusion to misinformation and urged fans to stop repeatedly questioning the game's DRM status. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that any unconfirmed information regarding KCD2's DRM is inaccurate.

The absence of DRM is likely welcome news to many PC gamers, as DRM has often been associated with performance problems. Denuvo, in particular, a popular anti-piracy DRM, has faced significant criticism for allegedly impacting game performance and even causing unplayable issues for some. Denuvo’s product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has previously acknowledged the negative perception of the technology, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to launch in February 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith apprentice, in Medieval Bohemia, following a devastating event in his village. Players who contributed at least $200 to the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
