The series, inspired by the classic Chinese novel "Water Margin" and known as Suikoden in Japan, has enthralled gamers with its rich narratives, political machinations, the mystical True Runes, and the iconic assembly of the 108 Stars of Destiny. Over the years, the series has expanded to include 11 entries, including spin-offs, with the most recent release dating back to 2012. Now, rather than a traditional sequel or a full revival, Konami is introducing a new chapter with Suikoden STAR LEAP, tailored for mobile gaming.

Suikoden STAR LEAP brings to life an entirely new cast of characters, yet remains true to the series' core by rallying 108 heroes to the cause. The storyline centers on the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes pivotal to the world's creation. Our protagonist, Hou, the son of a village chief, embarks on his first successful hunt, only for his village to be attacked, catapulting him into a quest for peace. Accompanying Hou are Hisui, his emotionally suppressed servant; Shirin, his childhood friend driven by a strong sense of justice; and Shapur, a former general now serving as a butler.
While the announcement of Suikoden STAR LEAP has stirred excitement, not all fans are on board.
