Chronologically, the Xenomorph story begins with the first crossover film, AVP: Alien vs. Predator. Set in 2004, this film, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, brought to life the epic battle between the Predators (aka "Yautja") and Xenomorphs, a concept originating in a 1989 comic. In the movie, humans discover that Predators have been visiting Earth for thousands of years, with ancient cults sacrificing themselves to facehuggers to produce Xenomorphs for the Predators to hunt.
