It's official! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have announced the exciting arrival of a new addition to the beloved Avatar franchise: Avatar: Seven Havens. This announcement comes as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the iconic series Avatar: The Last Airbender, brought to us by the visionary creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The upcoming series, Avatar: Seven Havens, will be a 26-episode, 2D animated adventure that introduces us to a young Earthbender destined to become the next Avatar following in the footsteps of Avatar Korra.
According to a press release from Nickelodeon, Avatar: Seven Havens will unfold in a world reeling from a devastating cataclysm. The narrative centers on a young Earthbender who learns she is the new Avatar, only to find that her title marks her as humanity's destroyer, rather than its savior. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she teams up with her long-lost twin to unravel their enigmatic origins and prevent the collapse of civilization's last bastions, known as the Seven Havens.
In their statement, DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their excitement about expanding the Avatarverse, stating, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."
Avatar: Seven Havens will be structured into two seasons, with a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13-episode Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains under wraps for now, anticipation is building.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also developing a full-length animated movie centered around adult Aang. This cinematic venture is slated to premiere in theaters on January 30, 2026, and promises to take viewers on a new adventure with the beloved character.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary, Avatar Studios has also unveiled plans for a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game on Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty of ways to engage with and celebrate this milestone in the Avatar saga.
