Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, possesses the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's significantly vulnerable to water and ice. Prioritize attacking its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Utilize all status ailments except stun and paralysis.
Use a Flash Pod
Employ Flash Pods to momentarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for critical hits. Capitalize on this opportunity by targeting its glowing red horns during its lightning attacks (remember to use Focus Mode).
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
Fortify your defenses with element-resistant gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces damage and offers resistance to lightning and fire, proving highly effective. Consider enhancing your elemental resistance further with a strategic meal. Staying close to Rey Dau's legs can minimize incoming attacks, as it primarily targets areas in front and behind it.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau's flight patterns offer tactical advantages. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps near the lone tree to temporarily incapacitate it. However, exercise caution near its nest, as it possesses a devastating follow-up lightning attack.
How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capture Rey Dau for additional rewards by depleting its health until it's near death (indicated by a skull icon on the minimap). Set a Pitfall Trap and swiftly administer a Tranquilizer before it escapes. Remember, Shock Traps are ineffective against this lightning dragon.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
