The journey from script to screen for Daredevil: Born Again involved numerous revisions - with one surprising exception. Episode 5, ironically actor Charlie Cox's least favorite installment, remained completely unchanged throughout production.
"I'll share something interesting - out of all the changes, we didn't alter a single scene in the bank episode," Cox revealed during his conversation with The Playlist. "That was part of our original shoot before the strikes. Personally though, it wasn't my cup of tea."
The Unchanged Episode That Defied Expectations
Cox admitted he actively resisted aspects of Episode 5's storyline. The plot follows Matt Murdock (Daredevil) caught in a bank heist while securing a loan for his law firm with partners Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
"The concept felt dated to me - like something from a 1970s caper," Cox explained. "Modern banking security makes such scenarios unlikely. I also questioned the robbery method's plausibility."
Despite his reservations, Cox acknowledged the episode's surprising popularity: "Ironically, this became one of our most well-received episodes. It just proves how subjective storytelling can be."
The actor noted Disney's internal metrics ranked it among their highest-performing shows. Critics echoed this enthusiasm - in our review we praised: "The execution is flawless, creating one of Marvel's most consistently entertaining episodes. It perfectly demonstrates Matt Murdock's unique heroism, even out of costume."
