Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide
Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before activation. Once there, inter-region travel becomes possible. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.
Prerequisites: The "In Vino Veritas" Quest
Before tackling "Under the Straw Hat," you must initiate "In Vino Veritas." This quest begins in Kuttenberg. Speak with Casper Rudolf, located west of the city, offering free wine samples. He needs information to improve his wine.
You can either directly approach Havel with your wine knowledge or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and study it for enhanced knowledge. If going straight to Havel, ensure you're clean and wearing decent attire. Select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" as your dialogue choices to obtain the necessary information. Report your findings back to Casper.
Infiltrating the Vineyard
Casper now requests you infiltrate the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by using the main road. Speak with the recruiter at the vineyard entrance; this triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Proceed to find Jerome seated on a bench within the estate.
Inform Jerome of your assignment. He'll provide details about vineyard work.
Vineyard Work and Incense Acquisition
Your work begins the following day. You can either complete assigned tasks (moving sacks, picking thistles) for payment or directly seek the secret incense.
The incense is located in the cellar of the main building. Access requires either lockpicking skills or stealing Jerome's keys. Remember, these areas are restricted, so avoid detection.
Locate the chest in the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks. This completes the primary objective. For an increased reward, collect five seedlings near the building entrance (be mindful of trespassing). If you chose to work, collect your pay from Jerome before returning to Casper.
Quest Completion
Deliver the Sulphur Wicks (and optionally, seedlings) to Casper to complete both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." Proceed to other quests, such as "Master Schindel's Toys."
