With the highly anticipated release of Days Gone Remastered drawing near, Sony's Bend Studio has unveiled an array of accessibility features designed to enhance the gaming experience for all players. In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead, detailed the new options, which include the ability to adjust Game Speed. This feature allows players to slow down the game's pace from 100% to as low as 25%, offering a solution for those who find themselves overwhelmed during high-pressure scenarios. As McAllister explains, "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high-pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers." With the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this feature aims to make the intense combat experience more accessible to everyone.
Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will introduce several other accessibility enhancements. Players can look forward to customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode that can be tailored to individual needs, UI Narration for improved navigation, and Collectible Audio Cues to assist in finding important in-game items. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE (Quick Time Event) option, previously limited to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
While these accessibility features are set to debut with Days Gone Remastered on the PS5, Bend Studio has confirmed that most will also make their way to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features such as feedback and control customization will require the use of a compatible controller.
Days Gone Remastered was announced in February, promising not only improved accessibility but also additional content like an enhanced photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options. This remastered version of the 2019 post-apocalyptic action-adventure game, centered around a biker navigating a zombie-infested world, is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Owners of the PS4 version of Days Gone will have the opportunity to upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for just $10, making it an attractive option for fans eager to experience the game with new features and improved gameplay.
