Sony's PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures are bringing the popular game Helldivers 2 to the big screen. This exciting film adaptation was announced at CES 2025 by PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash. While specifics remain under wraps, Qizilbash confirmed the project's commencement, promising fans spectacular space battles.
Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Studios, is a critically acclaimed shooter drawing inspiration from Starship Troopers. Its phenomenal success is undeniable, achieving 12 million sales within its first 12 weeks, making it PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title to date. The recent Illuminate update, reintroducing enemies from the original Helldivers, further fueled its popularity.
Adding to PlayStation's cinematic expansion, a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is also in the works, a collaboration between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures (the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted adaptation). Qizilbash offered an initial glimpse, stating, "We are just beginning work on the Horizon Zero Dawn film, but we can already assure audiences: this world and its characters will be brought to life cinematically for the very first time."
