A Decade in the Making
The journey to bring Dragon Age: The Veilguard to life has been a long one, marked by significant delays spanning almost a decade. Development started in 2015, after Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and development timeline. The project, initially codenamed "Joplin," was even put on hold due to its initial design clashing with the company's live-service strategy.
In 2018, The Veilguard was resurrected under the codename "Morrison." After further development, it was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, before settling on its current title.
Despite these challenges, the wait is almost over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Get ready, Thedas awaits!
