Due to the Los Angeles wildfires, Square Enix has temporarily suspended automatic housing demolitions in Final Fantasy XIV on the Aether, Primal, Crystal, and Dynamis data centers. This action, implemented on January 9th, 2025, comes just one day after the resumption of these demolitions following a previous pause related to Hurricane Helene.
The 45-day demolition timers, designed to free up housing plots from inactive players, are currently frozen. However, players can still reset their timers by visiting their properties. Square Enix assures players that they will provide an update regarding the resumption of the automatic demolition timers once the situation with the wildfires is assessed.
This isn't the only impact of the wildfires; the Critical Role web series and an NFL playoff game have also been affected. The unexpected pause adds to a busy start to 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV players, who also recently benefited from a free login campaign. The duration of this housing demolition moratorium remains undetermined.
