MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has revealed its next ambitious project: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG developed in partnership with 505 Games. Prepare to be immersed in a dark fantasy world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.
The debut trailer showcases exhilarating hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual style, and a richly atmospheric, shadowy setting. Gameplay and artistic design draw clear inspiration from Lords of Shadow, while environmental details and enemy designs evoke the spirit of Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer also features a mechanical bird, hinting at a unique traversal mechanic for the protagonist.
Developed using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges that frequently plague modern games built on Unreal Engine 5.
