Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök that's set to launch next week. This update brings a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, celebrating the series' rich history and thrilling gameplay.
Sony shared all the details about the God of War 20th anniversary celebrations in a PlayStation.Blog post. The Dark Odyssey collection is the star of the show, offering a treasure trove of cosmetic enhancements for all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC. This free update will be available starting March 20.
The Dark Odyssey collection boasts a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic that promises to enhance the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. Both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets, alongside a variety of customizable shields and weapons.
The highlight of the Dark Odyssey update is undoubtedly the new appearance and armor set for Kratos, reminiscent of a legendary skin from God of War 2 that was originally a reward for conquering the game on God Mode difficulty. Players can unlock this content from any Lost Items chest in the base game or instantly in God of War Ragnarök’s roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Additionally, the update introduces the much-anticipated feature to customize Kratos' weapons' appearances without compromising their abilities.

Sony has planned a comprehensive celebration for God of War fans, including a variety of activities and offers. These include downloadable social media assets (available here), an art showcase in collaboration with Los Angeles' Gallery Nucleus, new merchandise, sales, multiple vinyl releases covering the franchise's history, and more.
