IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles to Benefit Wildfire Relief Charity

Author : Gabriella Mar 01,2025

IDW Publishing and Toho's "Godzilla vs. America" series continues its monstrous rampage with Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, hitting shelves April 30, 2025. This standalone special features four distinct tales of Godzilla's devastating attack on the City of Angels, boasting a stellar creative team including Gabriel Hardman, J. Gonzo, Dave Baker, and Nicole Goux.

Given the recent devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area, IDW acknowledges the potentially insensitive timing of the release. In a commendable show of community support, IDW has pledged to donate all proceeds from the sale of Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc), directly aiding bookstores and comic shops affected by the fires. The publisher released the following statement:

To our retail partners and fans, We hope this message finds you safe and well. IDW Publishing is deeply committed to its community. We recognize the unfortunate timing of Godzilla vs. Los Angeles, planned since last July, coinciding with the recent fires. While "Godzilla" often serves as a metaphor for tragedy, our intention is not to capitalize on these events. To support our community, all proceeds will be donated to Binc, aiding affected bookstores and comic shops. We appreciate your understanding and continued readership.

Associate editor Nicolas Niño shared his perspective with IGN: "Having been born and raised in LA, I couldn't be happier to work on a comic showcasing the city's talented cartoonists. We've got Godzilla battling giant lowrider mechs, stomping through theme parks—even a subway system pamphlet! Angelenos uniting against a force of nature. All proceeds support Binc's wildfire relief efforts."

Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 will be available April 30, 2025, with final orders due March 24. For more on upcoming comic releases, check out previews for Marvel and DC in 2025.
