Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up again, this time producing a LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release.
While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked considerable speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2. Many users humorously interpreted the Game Boy LEGO as a stand-in for the much-anticipated console reveal.
Although details regarding the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that a successor announcement would be made within the current fiscal year (ending March). Patience is key!
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be revealed, but further information is promised in the coming weeks or months.
Previous LEGO & Nintendo Collaborations
Beyond the NES, Nintendo and LEGO have previously collaborated on sets featuring characters from popular franchises such as Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
Last May 2024, a 2,500-piece LEGO set recreating the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild was released, including Princess Zelda and the Master Sword. This set retails for $299.99 USD.
Two months later, a Super Mario World LEGO set featuring Mario and Yoshi in their classic sprite forms was released. A rotating crank animates Yoshi’s leg. This set is priced at $129.99 USD.
