Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won felt invigorated after experiencing Elden Ring: Nightreign’s network test, sparking new ideas for future projects. During the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared with Eurogamer his insights on the Souls genre development. His admiration for FromSoftware games is evident in Lies of P's design.
Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi remarked, "The network test was refreshing and innovative. It's clear that FromSoftware continues to push their creative boundaries, which in turn inspired me to enhance the Overture experience to its fullest potential."
This inspiration has led Choi to consider exploring multiplayer game development. He stated, "We're open to exploring various possibilities for our future projects."
While a fan of FromSoftware, Choi emphasized that his inspiration comes from a diverse range of games. In an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he explained, "My passion for gaming spans across various genres, and I draw inspiration from numerous titles. This blend of influences helps me craft a unique Lies of P experience that resonates with our fans."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC is estimated to take 15-20 hours for seasoned players, packed with numerous bosses and additional content originally intended for the main game. He explained, "Overture isn't just an add-on; it's deeply connected to the base game, making its development a challenge to enhance the overall Lies of P experience."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to Krat during its final haunting days, following a legendary Stalker. It includes new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts that couldn't be included at launch due to development constraints. Choi likened Overture to a Director’s Cut, rounding out the game's narrative.
He noted, "We prioritized quality in the base game, which meant we couldn't include everything initially. The positive community response encouraged us to deliver a comprehensive expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that Overture is not linked to the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending of Lies of P hinted at future directions for the universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details on Lies of P 2 remain under wraps.
Choi assured fans, "We will only share updates when we're confident in the quality of our content, reflecting our commitment to excellence despite external pressures."
He encouraged players to revisit the base game for clues about the DLC's content and shared his appreciation for the fan theories circulating online, noting some were remarkably accurate.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, with no specific date announced. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news on the game by checking out our detailed article below!
