Let's jump right in this month, making up for last month's slightly delayed guide. A fresh month and season are upon us, and I'm here to offer deck-building advice to keep you competitive in Marvel Snap (Free). Honestly, the game felt pretty balanced last month. However, a new season introduces new cards, so expect things to shift dramatically. Let's try to predict the meta, shall we? Remember: today's winning deck might be obsolete tomorrow. These guides offer a snapshot of the current meta, but they're not the only strategy you should employ.
Note: Most decks featured here are top-tier and assume a complete card collection. I'll highlight five of the strongest Marvel Snap decks currently, plus a couple of more accessible and fun options for variety.
Most Young Avengers cards haven't significantly impacted the meta. Kate Bishop remains effective, and Marvel Boy boosted 1-Cost Kazoo decks, but the others haven't caused major disruptions. The newly released Amazing Spider-Season, however, along with the new Activate ability, is a game-changer. Next month's meta will be vastly different.
Kazar and Gilgamesh Dominate
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
Surprisingly, Kazoo is a top deck thanks to the Young Avengers. The core strategy remains familiar: deploy low-cost cards and then buff them with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, and Gilgamesh thrives in this boosted environment. Kate Bishop helps fill locations for Dazzler and reduces the cost of Mockingbird. A powerful deck, but its long-term viability remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer's Enduring Reign: Part II
Cards Included: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer remains dominant, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo provides early boosts. Forge enhances Brood's clones. Gwenpool buffs cards in hand; Shaw gains power from buffs; Hope provides extra Energy; Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power; and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
Spectrum and Man-Thing's Ongoing Power
Cards Included: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype also reigns supreme. The deck features versatile Ongoing cards, amplified by Spectrum's final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing combo is particularly strong, with Luke protecting cards from US Agent. This deck is relatively easy to play, and Cosmo's utility is expected to increase.
Discard Dracula's Classic Strategy
Cards Included: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This reliable Apocalypse-style Discard deck incorporates Moon Knight (buffed for improved performance). Morbius and Dracula are the key cards, aiming for an endgame with Apocalypse, leading to a powerful Dracula and widespread Morbius effects. Collector can also be surprisingly effective.
The Unwavering Destroy Deck
Cards Included: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains strong, with Attuma's recent buff making him a valuable addition. Focus on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, generate extra energy with X-23, and finish with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence is notable, likely due to increased countermeasures.
Here are a couple of fun decks for those with smaller collections or seeking alternative strategies:
Darkhawk's Return (If He Ever Left)
Cards Included: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck utilizes Darkhawk's strengths, incorporating Korg and Rockslide to add cards to the opponent's deck. It also includes disruptive cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, alongside discard effects and cost reduction for Stature.
Budget-Friendly Kazar Deck
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly Kazar deck, lacking the power of the top-tier version but providing valuable experience with the combo. It features the core Kazar and Blue Marvel synergy, boosted by Onslaught.
This month's deck guide concludes here. With the new season and potential balance changes, October's meta will likely be very different. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are significant factors. It will be interesting to see which cards and decks Second Dinner addresses with balance adjustments. The resurgence of classic decks is intriguing, but unlikely to last. Until then, happy snapping!
