If you’ve been keeping an eye on the latest mobile game releases from around the globe, there’s another title you’ll likely wish was available outside of Japan—*Medabot Survivors*. Set to launch on February 10th, this new entry brings the beloved robot-themed role-playing franchise back into the spotlight with a fresh twist. As spotted by Gematsu, *Medabot Survivors* delivers bullet-hell action in a “Survivors-like” format, appealing to fans of fast-paced, wave-based gameplay.
For those who grew up during the post-*Pokémon* anime and toy craze, *Medabots* might ring a bell. Alongside *Digimon*, it was one of many Japanese properties pitched to Western audiences in hopes of replicating *Pokémon’s* success. While *Digimon* carved out a notable niche for itself, *Medabots* never quite broke through beyond its core fanbase. However, in Japan, the franchise has remained consistently popular over the years, evolving across games, toys, and media.
The decision to enter the Survivors-like genre—a term inspired by *Vampire Survivors* but rooted in a long-established gameplay style—makes sense for a revival like this. It taps into a globally trending mechanic while giving longtime fans something fresh to enjoy. Unfortunately, at least for now, *Medabot Survivors* is exclusive to iOS and Android platforms in Japan only. That means most international fans will have to wait and hope for a future global release.
If the game performs well and gains traction among Japanese players, there’s always a chance a worldwide rollout could follow. Until then, fans outside Japan will have to admire from afar or explore alternative methods of access—if available.
