Regarding the season's plot, Netflix released the following synopsis;
“It's the fall of 1987. Hawkins bears the scars of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by one goal: find and kill Vecna," The official description states. "However, he has disappeared—his location and intentions a mystery. Their mission is complicated by a military quarantine of the town and a heightened government hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
"As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance nears, a familiar, heavy dread returns. The final confrontation approaches, bringing with it a darkness more powerful and deadly than any they've encountered. To end this nightmare, the entire party must stand together one last time."
Netflix had previously shared the episode titles for Stranger Things Season 5, which arrives over three years after Season 4 concluded.
