The Witcher 4 at the State of Unreal Event
Powering The Witcher 4 and Future Titles
Developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) confirmed via Twitter (X) that The Witcher 4 will be featured at Epic Games' upcoming State of Unreal event on June 3 at 9:30 AM ET / 3:30 PM CEST. The presentation will be livestreamed on Unreal Engine's official YouTube and Twitch channels. Consult the timetable below to see when the stream begins in your time zone:

The Witcher 4's debut at The Game Awards 2024 offered a first look at how the next mainline Witcher game will utilize Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). The upcoming State of Unreal presentation will dive deeper, showcasing "some of the innovative technology & features that will power The Witcher 4, and beyond."
This event might reveal the first in-game or in-engine visuals, and possibly even gameplay footage. To date, CDPR has only released a CGI cinematic trailer, which is visually spectacular and introduced Ciri as the new main protagonist.
It's also noteworthy that CDPR stated the technology developed for The Witcher 4 will be used "beyond." This suggests UE5 will also be the foundation for other future CDPR games, such as the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2, though the studio has yet to officially confirm this.
Innovation as a Guiding Principle for Every Game
In a recent episode of CDPR's AnsweRED podcast, co-CEO Adam Badowski discussed the studio's philosophy for evolving The Witcher franchise and keeping its projects fresh. As the studio celebrates The Witcher 3's 10th Anniversary, Badowski reflected on their creative process.
"At the very beginning of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's development, we decided to blend two contrasting elements: water and fire. We plan to continue this philosophy with all our future games," he explained. Badowski stressed their commitment to introducing new elements in every title and avoiding repetitive formulas across different projects.

He stated, "We must introduce something that shifts the player's perspective. We refuse to simply repeat our own successes. Every game needs to bring something new to the table." Badowski highlighted this as a core company value that contributed significantly to The Witcher 3's acclaim.
It will be fascinating to see what new concepts CDPR introduces in The Witcher 4 and how Ciri's role as the central character influences both the narrative and gameplay mechanics. The Witcher 4 is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A specific release date has not been announced.
