Metal Slug: Awakening delivers a modern update to the beloved '90s run-and-gun franchise. Originally teased in 2020 as Metal Slug Code: J by TiMi Studios, the game has undergone development and name changes, finally arriving after a Southeast Asian release in late 2023.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a celebrated Japanese run-and-gun series, debuting in 1996 and created by Nazca Corporation. It's since expanded into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises a significant leap forward.
Expect faithful shooter mechanics combined with enhanced visuals and innovative gameplay features. Rejoin familiar characters in new adventures, featuring a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and challenging Roguelike experiences.
