Microsoft has inadvertently revealed an upcoming Xbox UI refresh that will reportedly let players view all their installed PC games from stores like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The company accidentally showcased what might become a future player feature in a now-edited blog post titled "Opening a Billion Doors with Xbox." As highlighted by The Verge, the post included a seemingly ordinary image of Xbox Series X|S consoles alongside phones, tablets, and TVs. Upon closer inspection, however, some screens display a small tab labeled "Steam."

This detail is easy to overlook but remains striking since Valve's digital PC platform doesn't currently integrate with Microsoft's gaming hardware in this manner. The image has since been removed from the post, indicating the Xbox team didn't intend to publicize this feature after observant readers spotted the Steam reference.
The Verge's sources confirm Microsoft is developing an update that will connect users not just to their Steam libraries but to other PC storefronts as well. If true, players could see every PC game they own and the store where each was purchased. The report notes this potential UI overhaul remains in early development, so don't anticipate an immediate rollout until more solid details emerge.

Any appearance of Steam in official Xbox UI concepts deserves attention, even if published accidentally. Over the past decade, Microsoft has gradually expanded its titles beyond Xbox to PC and other platforms. Notable examples include Pentiment and Grounded on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, while rumors suggest the Master Chief Collection may eventually reach PlayStation.
Microsoft has been consistently merging the boundaries between Xbox and PC gaming in recent years. Months ago, the company launched its "This is an Xbox" initiative demonstrating the variety of devices capable of playing Xbox games. In a Polygon interview last year, Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted at a future where PC storefronts like Itch.io and Epic Games Store could become accessible on Xbox consoles.
Reports indicate Microsoft's next-generation Xbox, expected around 2027, will apparently resemble a traditional PC more closely than any previous console.
