Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay and Star

Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The new gameplay trailer, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, highlights the game's impressive sword combat and formidable enemies.

PlayLeading the charge is the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi. The trailer showcases not only his exceptional swordsmanship but also a glimpse into his mischievous and humorous personality.

According to Capcom's press release, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most renowned historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the iconic late actor Toshiro Mifune, known for his portrayal of Musashi in various samurai films.

The game's setting is a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
