People Can Fly, the acclaimed developer behind Bulletstorm and a co-developer of the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to work on a new game, codenamed Project Delta. According to a report released by People Can Fly, this project will be developed as a work-for-hire, though specifics about Project Delta remain under wraps.
The studio is juggling an impressive lineup of projects, each with intriguing codenames. Alongside Project Delta, they're working on Project Gemini in collaboration with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw 30 developers laid off last year. There's also Project Echo with Krafton, Project Red, which appears to be another venture with Sony, and the VR-focused Project Bison, recently announced as their final foray into virtual reality.
However, it hasn't been all smooth sailing for People Can Fly. Last December, they announced the suspension of Project Victoria and scaled down efforts on Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they made the tough decision to cancel Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly remains busy with eight known projects currently in development. Among these is the eagerly awaited Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition, though no release date has been set yet. On the other hand, Project Gemini, their collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
With a diverse portfolio and ongoing collaborations with major players in the gaming industry, People Can Fly continues to be a significant force in game development, pushing forward with innovation and creativity.
