This discovery naturally leads to questions about potential future content updates for Starfield, perhaps even a new expansion, timed to coincide with a PS5 release. Recent months have seen relatively quiet news surrounding Starfield, following the release of the less-than-well-received Shattered Space expansion. Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, addressing player concerns about a lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield, confirming at least one additional story expansion beyond Shattered Space. Starfield, released in September 2023, marked Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021. In January, Microsoft's Phil Spencer declined to rule out a PS5 release for Starfield. Reports from March 2024 indicated that both Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny were under consideration for PS5 releases. Indiana Jones subsequently received confirmation for PS5, launching in Spring 2025, a few months after its PC and Xbox release. However, Starfield's PS5 release remains unconfirmed, although Spencer's comments suggest it's a possibility.
