This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, necessitating trading or transferring for Violet players.
Acquiring Deino:
- Pokémon Scarlet: Deino can be found in Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Koraidon's high jump ability is necessary for Alfornada Cavern. Zweilous, Deino's evolution, can also be found in these locations, as well as in 4-star Tera Raids. Hydreigon appears in 5/6-star Tera Raids.
- Pokémon Violet: Since Deino is Scarlet-exclusive, trading via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or transferring through Pokémon HOME is required. Pokémon HOME allows transfers from Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet. Instructions for transferring via HOME are provided below.
Transferring via Pokémon HOME:
- Open Pokémon HOME and move Deino from your source game to your Basic Box. Save and exit.
- Open Pokémon Violet in Pokémon HOME and transfer Deino from the Basic Box to a PC Box. Save and exit.
Evolving Deino:
Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) to expedite the evolution process.
Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Hydreigon boasts a 600 base stat total, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.
Stat | Base Stat |
---|---|
HP | 92 |
Attack | 105 |
Sp. Attack | 125 |
Defense | 90 |
Sp. Def | 90 |
Speed | 98 |
Total | 600 |
- Strengths: Super effective against Dragon, Ghost, and Psychic types.
- Weaknesses: 4x weakness to Fairy, also weak to Fighting, Bug, Dragon, and Ice types.
- Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, and Dark types.
- Immunities: Ground and Psychic types.
Terastallizing allows Hydreigon to mitigate its Fairy-type weakness. Its movepool allows for both physical and special attacking strategies. Flash Cannon (via TM) is a crucial Steel-type move to counter its weakness. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.
